Bhadrak: Dhusuri police in Bhadrak district Thursday arrested a man for allegedly hurling acid at a woman nearly 20 years ago. The accused remained underground after committing the crime, a police source said.
The accused has been identified as Subash Behera, a resident of Raipur village under Dhusuri police limits.
According to the police, they had received a written report from a woman in 2002. In her FIR, the woman had accused Behera of hurling acid at her. She had also mentioned that he had attempted to rape her and it was when she resisted that he threw acid on her.
On the basis of her report, the police had then registered a case (Case No-25/2002) and launched a probe. But Behera had been evading arrest for close to two decades. He ran out of luck Thursday when he was caught by the Dhusuri police. The police arrested him from an unidentified place.
