Cuttack, Dec 15: An acid attack victim, identified as Rajlaxmi Rout Monday urged the state government to hand over the investigation of her case to the Crime Branch or CBI after the Badambadi police failed to make any breakthrough four months after the incident.
“The police have just sat pretty over the files although the case was registered and were apparently trying to suppress the case in a bid to shower undue favour to the accused. I moved the local court seeking speedy justice, but to no avail,” Rout allged.
The victim has written a letter to the state government in this regard and pleading for justice.
In her letter to the State Women Commission December 8, the victim has said the gruesome incident was pre-meditated and orchestrated by her husband Bijay Rout.
Some unknown miscreants had thrown acid on her August 3 through the window of her house.
Rout was first treated at SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack and latter shifted to a private hospital that discharged her recently, sources said.
“Police have so far produced a fake investigation report as I was in the Intensive Care Unit, on the day the police have claimed to have recorded my statement,” the victim said.
She has also accused the police of taking bribe from the accused to change the direction of the investigation.
Bijay, her husband, however, asserted before media persons that the allegations are baseless and fabricated. Police are investigating into the incident and have detained one person in this connection, he said.
