Bhubaneswar: Odia actor Pintu Nanda, who was undergoing treatment for liver-related ailments at Yashoda Hospitals in Hyderabad, died late Wednesday night. He was 47.
A pall of gloom descended on the Odia film fraternity following Nanda’s demise.
Earlier in the day, actor Sritam Das took to Twitter to seek blessings for Nanda as his health deteriorated.
According to sources, Nanda was initially admitted to Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) in New Delhi for liver transplantation last month. However, due to the unavailability of donors in New Delhi, the cine actor had to be flown to the Hyderabad facility last week.
A family member was supposed to donate liver to Nanda. But that did not materialise due to mismatch of blood group among other reasons. Before a donor could be arranged, Nanda breathed his last at around 11:25pm Wednesday, they said.
