It is not as easy as we think. As audience, we have a concept that it is all lights, camera and action that goes into the making of a film.
But, no there is a lot of grit and physical toil involved. Actors have to suffer accidents and injuries that are part and parcel in the life of an actor.
Here we bring the 10 actors who underwent such mishaps during film shooting.
- Aishwarya Rai In Khakee
Aishwarya Rai, while shooting for the action-drama ‘Khakee’ near Nasik, was hit by an out-of-control jeep and was thrown back into some bushes by the side of the road. She and Tusshar Kapoor were rehearsing a scene where the jeep was supposed to come and stop 20 feet away from them. However, the jeep driver lost control and did not brake. She suffered a fracture on her left foot and some bruises.
- Amitabh Bachchan In ‘Coolie
This is by far the most memorable on-set injury in the history of Bollywood. Fans prayed for his recovery in temples, and the movie received a lot of pre-release promotion due to this. While shooting for a fight scene with co-star Puneet Issar in 1982, Big B was injured grievously in his intestines and needed months of recovery before he could resume shooting.
- John Abraham In ‘Shootout at Wadala’
John Abraham had a near-death experience while he was shooting for a movie of Shootout at Wadala. In the climax scene, Anil Kapoor accidentally shot a blank bullet at John Abraham from 1.5 meters away. The initial distance was supposed to be 15 feet away, and the bullet grazed Abraham’s right side of the neck. His neck was burnt in that area, and the wound still shows in his collar-bone!
- Ranveer Singh In ‘Gunday’
Ranveer Singh suffered an injury when he was shooting for Gunday. It was not an action scene, unlike the others – but a dance sequence where the actor was perched on a high platform. He came crashing down from the platform when he lost his balance, landed on his face – and suffered a gash on his cheek. He needed a couple of stitches, but he continued shooting as per schedule!
- Hrithik Roshan In ‘Agneepath’
Hrithik Roshan suffered serious injuries while he was shooting for the ‘Agneepath’ remake. The actor injured a severe back pain while shooting his stunts, and had to get an MRI test done at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after the shot.
