Actress Moushumi Chatterjee Joins BJP might contest in 2019

New Delhi: A month ahead of national election Veteran actor Moushumi Chatterjee joined the ruling BJP Wednesday likely to contest in Lok Sabha elections.

She joined the party in the presence of party leaders Mukul Roy and Kailash Vijayvargiya.

While talking to the reporters she said, “I want to work with the BJP,”

The actress had in 2004 unsuccessfully contested Lok Sabha elections as a congress candidate in Bengal.

Born April 26, 1948, in Kolkata, Chatterjee was last seen in Amitabh Bachchan starrer Piku in 2015 and has worked in over 100 films in Hindi and Bengali language.

Whether her reinstating faith in politics through BJP’s banner will bring laurels like Piku? Only time will tell.

Notably, another actor, Rupa Ganguly, had joined the BJP in 2015. She is now a Rajya Sabha member.
