Bhubaneswar: In a bid to give special priority to the corona warriors of Odisha, the state government designated Aditya Ashwini COVID Hospital in Cuttack for the frontline warriors, Wednesday.
The hospital will give first priority to the treatment of frontline workers who test positive for the virus.
In a letter to the Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET) and the Directorate of Heal Services (DHS), the Health and Family Welfare Department said, “after careful consideration, the state government on priority basis has been pleased to designate Aditya Ashwini COVID-19 Hospital for treatment of doctors and the frontline warriors of the virus.”
The decision has been taken by the state government following reports that COVID-19 infected doctors were unable to find beds in the COVID-19 hospitals.
According to Indian Medical Association (IMA), Odisha lost 19 doctors to the virus in the state.
The Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA) had also been approaching the state government for a special hospital for COVID-19 warriors with facilities like ICUs and ventilators.
