Balasore: After exit-polls by various media groups were out, political parties were tense while the district administration has gone overdrive by taking various measures for peaceful counting of votes in Balasore.
The votes will be counted from 7 AM May 23 for Assembly and Parliamentary seats.
The administration has arranged counting of votes for Nilgiri Assembly seat at KC High School while votes for Jaleswar, Bhograi, Basta, Sadar, Remuna, Soro and Simulia Assembly seats will be held at the Collectorate.
70 officials have been engaged for counting after they were trained on counting through EVMs.
Counting of seven Assembly sets will be held in seven separate halls in the Collectorate. Each hall will have seven tables for Assembly and seven tables for the Parliamentary seats. For each table, a counting supervisor, an assistant supervisor and a micro observer will be present.
During the first round of counting, postal ballots will be counted then EVMs and VVPATs will be brought from strong rooms.
As per the Supreme Court order, VVPATs and EVMs of five booths will be matched. Five booths will be chosen on the basis of lots.
EVMs will be guarded by central forces while state armed police forces will be at the counting halls.
Results of each round will be intimated to the public through public address systems, LCD displays and website uploads.
Vehicular movement to the Collectorate has been blocked while traffic control system has been put in place at Fandi Chhak to Technical School Chhak, from Jhadeswar temple to Kacheri Chhak.
