After ABDO, JE’s body found in Keonjhar dist

Keonjhar: Three days after the mutilated body of an Assistant Block Development Officer (ABDO) was found close to the railway tracks near Harichandanpur railway station in Keonjhar district Monday, the body of a Junior Engineer (JE) was recovered from the farmlands near Banachakulia village, under Ghatagaon police station limits of the district, late Thursday.

Police said the deceased, Chandrahasya Naik, a native of Sukurli village of Mayurbhanj district, worked as a JE in Saharpada block of Keonjhar district. Police sources said that Chandrahasya was last seen travelling on a motorcycle with three others to Banachakulia village, Wednesday. While the other three riders were traced to a hospital, Chandrahasya’s body was found in a farmland surrounded by forests Thursday night.

On being informed, police reached the spot with a scientific team and began an investigation after recovering the body. Police said the trio who accompanied the deceased on the bike had been hospitalized after they met with an accident. They allegedly told the police that since one of them got drunk it was difficult for all four to return on the bike together. Therefore, three of them first came back in the vehicle, leaving the JE in that village. They had plans to pick him up on the second trip. However, while returning, they met with an accident and got themselves admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Prabhat Kumar Tripathy said, “No external injury mark was found on the deceased’s body. We are waiting for the post-mortem report to know the cause of death. Meanwhile, we are questioning the trio who accompanied the deceased. We will get a clear picture soon.” Nevertheless, the back-to-back discovery of bodies of government officials under mysterious circumstances has created a sensation in the district.
