BHUBANESWAR: Internet is always jammed with the latest buzz words. After Kiki, Skibidi is the latest dance challenge which is being attempted by ardent geeks of the city. This dance challenge is a humorous one and not dangerous like KIKI.
Apart from this, various fitness centers are also incorporating this challenge in their aerobics dance sessions. Orissa Post interacted with students, gym trainers, fitness enthusiast and modern dancers to delve deeper into the subject.
What is Skibidi?
The dance challenge features a Russian rave band’s video, where band member Ilya Ilich Prusikin is seen dancing in the street. The contagious move cause three women, a pole dancer, two police officers and a prisoner as well as a mother and baby to start dancing.
As he appears to make his way to another band member Sophia Tayurskaya in the video, she sings: “I’m falling; I’m falling, waiting for you to say I want you, I want you. Maybe like horse last hey, I want you, I want you, together like one two, baby come to me, right now.”
Fitness enthusiast Rachel Nibedita said, “I was comfortable to attempt Drake’s KIKI Challenge. However, this one appears tough to perform as it requires a lot of coordination of body parts as well as agility. The music of this challenge is quite contagious. Recently, I have joined Dips and Dumbbells, a fitness centre, where SKIBIDI is being played all day long”.
Fitness Trainer Vicky said, “The correct way to attempt this challenge is to cross punch arms and step with your toes turned out while lifting your knees towards your body. The most difficult part is the speed with which it is executed. If you don’t reach the tempo of the music, it will not be an enjoyable experience. All my clients are dancing and hopping to this challenge.”
Mahesh Anand, a student of NIT Rourkela, said, “The video was released earlier this month October 5 and has racked up a staggering 20 million views.”
In the clip information on YouTube, Little Big appealed to their fans to, “Join the #skibidichallenge – just film how you perform the skibidi-dance, put the #skibidichallenge hashtag and post it on your YouTube and Instagram accounts.”
