Gunupur: The government in Andhra Pradesh is trying to seize one after another village in the state after being able to conduct panchayat elections in Kotia of Koraput district.
Recently, the AP administration tried to grab a road in Badalukuti village under Bairagihalua panchayat of Rayagada block but its efforts were frustrated after the administration intervened.
Similar efforts by the neighbouring state have also been witnessed in this block where the former is trying to construct a road in the area. The matter came to fore a team of senior officials led by sub-collector Sonal Jena visited Eridi ghat, about three km from Kataguda village under Marama panchayat of Gunpur block and took stock of a road construction work by the government of the neighbouring state. The Andhra Pradesh administration was reportedly found constructing a road at Eridi ghat to Munimkhol in the state.
BDO Shantiprabha Pradhan and tehsildar (in-charge) Ferdinand Ekka accompanied the sub-collector on the visit.
During the probe, the Revenue officials were found unaware about the jurisdiction of the area lying in which state. Later, the forest officials visited the area Sunday and reviewed the situation.
Friday, Andhra Pradesh was carrying out concrete road laying work at Kashinagar in Gajapati. The illegal road laying work was objected by the district administration on the spot. The administration also seized several bags of cement, construction materials and mixer machines being used at the site, an administrative official of the district informed.
