Jeypore: Koraput district administration Thursday imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in Jeypore sub-division area in view of possible breach of law and order situation ahead of Hanuman Jayanti scheduled April 14.
The restrictions will be in force between 3 pm and 9 pm each day beginning April 13 to April 20 in Jeypore, an office order issued by Jeypore Sub-Collector Bedabara Pradhan stated.
The Koraput district administration resolved to enforce the prohibitory order in the backdrop of violence in Sambalpur town in which around 10 police personnel were injured yesterday.
The order prohibits gathering of four or more persons in a specified area to prevent any public nuisance or apprehended danger.
In Sambalpur, Wednesday evening, violence erupted between two groups after stones were pelted over a rally held by Bajrang Dal ahead of Hanuman Jayanti in which the town saw vandalism and lawlessness. Subsequently, Sambalpur district administration imposed Section 144 to take control of the situation.
Odisha government Thursday banned internet services for 48 hours in Sambalpur district to block the spreading of inflammatory hate messages.
