After Shiv Sena assault, former Navy personnel Madan Sharma voices support for BJP, RSS

Mumbai: Former Navy man Madan Sharma was recently attacked by Shiv Sena workers here. Madan Sharma told reporters here Tuesday that he is with ‘the BJP and RSS’ now. The former Navy personnel gave this information after meeting Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan.

“From today onwards, I am with the BJP and RSS. When I was beaten up, they (Shiv Sena) had levelled allegations that I am with BJP-RSS. So I am with BJP-RSS from now on,” Sharma said.

Sharma (62) was attacked after posting on his housing society’s WhatsApp group a cartoon lampooning Chief Minister and Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray.

After the attack in north Mumbai’s Kandivli suburb, Sharma had demanded that the chief minister apologise to him. He had stated that Thackeray should also apologise to the country and he should quit his post. Sharma had said that Thackeray had no right to be the chief minister if he failed to maintain the law and order in Maharashtra.

Six Shiv Sena workers have been arrested in connection with the incident. Some others were also nabbed, but they got bail from the court.
