Bhubaneswar: A two-day Agri Vikash conclave is scheduled to be held here from June 29. The event, a first of its kind being held in Odisha, is expected to create a road map for getting new technology to farmers and to add value to their produce.
It is also aimed to serve as a platform to facilitate trade in agricultural services and to develop synergies between competitive players of the agricultural sector in the Indian market.
Over 1,000 progressive farmers from different districts are expected to attend the event along with the agriculture scientists, corporate companies, agri-entrepreneurs, government organisations and representative of various international organisations.
Director of the National Institute of Agriculture Marketing, Hema Yadav, said ambassadors of various countries, international organisations, NGOs and the state government have been invited to participate in the two-day event.
“Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan and Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Giriraj Singh will inaugurate the conclave. Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Cooperation, Odisha Surya Narayan Patro will be gracing the valedictory function,” she added.
The conclave would discuss the potential, possibility and challenge of agriculture in Odisha. It would also discuss how low-cost technology, micro enterprise and the best practices adopted by farmers in other parts of the country can be replicated in the state and the income of the farmers doubled by 2022 as envisaged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Farmers and experts will jointly discuss how agriculturists can take advantage of new opportunities in the market ranging from products to marketing.
Organisations such as TRIFED, NAFED, NABARD, Agriculture Skill Council and NCDC working for the development of agriculture will exhibit their produce, technology and processes for solving various agriculture related problems at the event.
The conclave is being supported by the National Institute of Agriculture Marketing (NIAM) and KPMG as knowledge
partners.
