Manchester: Sergio Aguero scored his 13th Premier League hat-trick as Manchester City routed Huddersfield Town 6-1 at the Etihad Stadium here, Sunday.
In other match, City’s rivals Manchester United suffered a shocking 2-3 defeat at Brighton. The hosts took a 2-0 lead through Glenn Murray (25th) and Shane Duffy (27th). Romelu Lukaku (34th) reduced the deficit for Man U.
However, Brighton restored two-goal advantage when Pascal Gross (44th) converted a penalty just before the break. Paul Pogba however found the net, also from a penalty, late in the game, but it couldn’t avoid a defeat.
The 25th-minute opener came from Ederson’s 70-yard goal-kick as he spotted Aguero in a one-on-one situation, and City’s all-time top scorer stayed cool to chip past Ben Hamer.
Gabriel Jesus added a second six minutes later before Aguero scoring City’s third. Huddersfield pulled one back prior to the break through Stankovic. David Silva then restored three-goal lead within three minutes of the restart. Aguero flicked in 15 minutes from time to complete his hat-trick. An own goal by Terence Kongolo completed the rout.
Earlier Saturday, Chelsea scraped past Arsenal 3-2 in a pulsating London Premier League derby Saturday with defender Marcos Alonso scoring an 81st-minute winner. Pedro (ninth), Alvaro Morata (20th) were the other goal scorers for Chelsea while Henrikh Mkhitaryan (37th) and Alex Iwobi (41st) were on target for Arsenal.
