Soro: A female jumbo was found dead in Digibhanra forest at the foothill of Debagiri range under Soro division of Kuladiha forest range in Balasore district Sunday. The forest officials reached the spot and started investigating the matter after conducting a post-mortem. As per reports, employees of Danturu forest beat house had spotted the female elephant calf in sick condition October 26 and informed senior officials. Forest officials then kept a vigil on the activity of the pachyderm and took necessary steps for her treatment. The jumbo was sick and had stopped taking adequate food.
Unfortunately, the jumbo was found dead inside Digibhanra forest under Bagha Ampuda beat Sunday morning. A post-mortem report would help ascertain the actual cause behind the elephant’s death, said Soro ranger Manoranjan Nayak.
