Jatni: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Saturday laid the foundation for the permanent campus of Asian Institute of Public Health (AIPH) University near Haridamada under Jatni block.
University professor Pinaki Panigrahi said the campus will be built on 20 acres of land in Jatni area which has been provided by the state government. The campus will be built in phases in two years with the expenditure of Rs 220 crore to Rs 260 crore.
The campus will have central academic building, research centre, administration building, staff quarters and hostels. The institute, first-of-its kind in the state, will provide research and health related courses. It will also provide opportunities to students to undertake research works of international standard.
The AIPH has been functioning from its temporary campus in Bhubaneswar since 2009.
University vice-chancellor J Mohapatra, B S Das, Goura Kumar Rath, Gokul Patnaik, D Mishra, registrar P R Mishra and others were present at the stone-laying ceremony.
