Jharsuguda: Almost all cultural aspects, festivals, tribal traditions and natural beauty of Odisha have been incorporated in the ‘theme pavilion’ of the airport here to give passengers, particularly those from outside the state, a feeling of having landed in a land rich in art and culture.
With just one day left for the airport’s inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Western Odisha’s noted artist Subas Pujahari is busy giving final touches to the theme pavilion.
The theme pavilion has depicted the state’s art, culture and natural beauty. Scenes showcasing different aspects of the state like the Rath Yatra festival, lifestyles of tribal people and folk dances, farming, handloom and the lifestyle of western Odisha are displayed in the theme pavilion at the terminal.
There are facilities in place to give whatever information sought by visitors about Odisha. In order to make visitors make up their mind to explore the state, pictures and information about Puri Car Festival, Natamandap, Konark temple, the Peace Pagoda at Dhauli and other tourist spots are aesthetically displayed.
There are also murals, pictures and wall hangings depicting the Hirakud Dam, the Sambalpuri folk dance, Mahuri (wind musical instrument), handicrafts and handlooms, the enchanting environment of tribal villages, Olive Ridley turtles, tiger conservation projects and the indigenous and migrant birds chirping at Chilika to make the visitors’ heart heavy at the time of bidding adieu for missing such captivating spots.
If Vedanta has spent about Rs 50 lakh for beautification of the airport, Subas Pujahari has to be thanked for making the theme pavilion aesthetic enough to attract visitors.
While the authorities of Vedanta have promised to help the development and beautification of the airport, Pujahari has thanked the airport authority and Vedanta for giving him an opportunity for being a part of the project.
