Aladdin’ trailer thrills kids

BHUBANESWAR: Kids of the capital are clamouring for more after viewing the trailer of ‘Aladdin’, a Disney remake of the 1992 classic.

The animation movie is directed by Guy Ritchie. It is yet another musical fantasy after Beauty and the Beasts. Disney has lined up another fantasy musical ‘The Lion King’ after the release of ‘Aladdin’. All these movies constitute a clear strategy of the mega production house to tap into the imagination of tiny tots.

The movie stars big names such as Will Smith as Genie, Naomi Scott as Jasmine and Mena Massoud as titular character Aladdin. The value of Aladdin can be well appreciated by the kids of 1990 as it was one of the few great animation works of the time.

Sonali Patnaik said, “I was very excited to watch the movie version of Aladdin as it has all the ingredients of entertainment. The trailer gives us glimpses of Agrabah, the fictional place where ‘Aladdin’ is set. The trailer shows us the character of Aladdin played by Massuod running away from sepoys of Agrahab.”

We also saw Will Smith as Genie who will not be in the blue avatar for the whole time. Sanjay Sahoo said, “At first, the blue version of Will Smith as Genie was not appreciated by fans during the release of first look. However, the new trailer comes as a relief as he won’t be in that look for the whole movie. Will Smith as Genie is the perfect combination as he has the charm to play the iconic role which was popularized by Robin Williams.”

The film is a musical and, since music has become an integral part of the legacy of ‘Aladdin’, we’re happy to report that the trailer features snippets of songs like ‘Friend Like Me’ and ‘A Whole New World’.

“We also saw the characters of Apu the monkey, Jafar the villain and Rajah the tiger in the 2:15 minute trailer. We hope that other iconic characters from the movie such as Lago and The Sultan are shown in the movie,” said Sarat Tripathy. The movie will be released in theatres May 24.
