Balasore: A man and his five years old son fell off Kansa Bansa river-bridge under Soro police limits in this district Sunday evening.
Sources said that Airi Munda and his son Bapun of Agira village, had been to the local market on their bike Sunday evening to buy some crackers for Diwali. Airi then consumed alcohol at a country liquor shop near the fire cracker shop.
On their way home, when the father-son duo was crossing the bridge over Kansa Bansa river, Airi, who was in inebriated condition, lost balance and fell into the water.
Some passersby and local people could save the father but failed to trace out Bapun.
On being informed, fire personnel reached the spot and carried out a search operation at night but in vain.
As the news broke, irate people set the country liquor shop on fire.
An NDRF team carried out a rescue operation Monday morning and after long hours of operation the child’s body was recovered from the water.
