Rourkela: A gangman’s keen eyes and alertness prevented a major train mishap Sunday which the Tatanagar-Alleppey Express could have suffered. As the train would have been travelling at high speed over the affected loss of lives also could have happened.
Gangman Ram Sreya Das while on routine inspection noticed a crack on the railway track near the K cabin at close to the Bondamunda diesel colony here. He promptly raised an alarm.
Seeing the crack, the gangman started waving his red flag frantically to attract the attention of the driver of the Tatanagar-Alleppey Express which was scheduled to pass through at that time. It helped as the driver succeeded in stopping the train which was coming from Rourkela on time.
The train resumed its journey after the railway engineers repaired the track.
