New Delhi: All 13 members of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) contingent, who tested positive for COVID-19 early last week, have come out negative in the latest tests. This information was given Tuesday by CSK’s CEO KS Viswanathan. India seamer Deepak Chahar and India A batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad were among the 13 members who had tested positive for COVID-19. In spite of testing negative all the 14 will have to undergo 14-day quarantine.

“Yes, all 13 members have tested negative for COVID-19. They will have to undergo another test Thursday, September 3. We are likely to start training Friday, September 4,” Viswanathan said. He is also in Dubai where CSK are based right now.

“Deepak and Ruturaj will complete their 14-day quarantine. Then they will join training after two negative tests as per protocol,” Viswanathan added.

The news must be a huge relief for the BCCI who are conducting the 13th edition of the IPL in Dubai because of the COVID-19 outbreak in India. All the eight franchises have already reached Dubai. In such a scenario a major outbreak of the pandemic among any of the teams would have caused a major headache to the BCCI. All the cricketers and support staff are strictly following rules and staying within the bio bubble created for the event.

The IPL starts September 19. Cricketers will however, have to play in empty stadiums.
