All-rounder Rajkishan vows better performance in future

Bhubaneswar, August 16: Emerging cricketer of Orissa, Rajkishan Patel bagged the ‘Rameswar-Kanba Young Cricketer of the Year Award’ for the year 2015-16 here Sunday.
Rajkishan of Jharsuguda received a trophy, plaque and cash prize of Rs 10,000 as a part of the award given by Rameswar Sporting Club. Ranji cricketer Basant Mohanty, woman cricketer Madhusmita Behera and U-19 coach Subrat Behera were also honoured on this occasion. Basant’s elder brother Jayant Mohanty received the prize with Basant’s absence as he is playing with the Orissa senior teamin Buchi Babu cricket at Chennai .
Among others cricketers Paresh Patel, Alok Mangaraj, Biswajit Bhuyan, Sarthak Siba Mohapatra, Priyabrata Pradhan, Prashant Bhoi and Rajesh Mohapatra were also felicitated. Culture and Tourisim Minister Ashok Kumar Panda joined as the chief guest and distributed the prizes.
“It is the first award in my life. So, it will be always memorable and special for me. The award will inspire me to perform well in the future,” stated all-rounder Rajkishan. Sandip Patnaik in 2014 and Priyatosh Parmanik in 2015 had previously bagged this prestigious award.
Team announced
Orissa Kick-Boxing Association (OKA) announced a 90-member team for the National Kick-Boxing Championship at Pune starting August 19. Orissa team will leave for Pune from here Monday. OKA members were hopeful of a better show.
