All-women bikers group takes out rally against molestation

Not only the rally saw participation from the lady bikers but also men bikers were enthusiastic to participate in it

Bhubaneswar: A motorcycle rally titled  ‘Nationwide ride against molestation’ to create awareness against molestation of women and educate victims and bystanders to raise their voices against such acts was taken out by an all-women motorcyclists’ group Odisha Bikerni in the city Sunday.

Around 150 members of the group in association with Kalinga Motor Sports Club (KMSC) and Bikers Republic of Odisha (BRO) along with Biking Community of India (BCI) took part in this 45-minute-long rally which started from a hotel at Jaydev Vihar here at 8:30 AM and passed through major locations in the city.

It may be mentioned here that apart from Bhubaneswar, such rallies were also taken out in 19 other cities across the country at the same time.

Flagging off the event, Bhubaneswar North MLA Priyadarshi Mishra said, “Even if there are stringent laws against such heinous crimes but the criminals would get their comeuppance only if the general public unites and fights together.”

Mishra appreciated the initiative taken by the youngsters and the biking community and stressed urged the people to work hand in hand with the government “to completely eradicate this menace.”

Talking about the event, a member of Odisha Bikerni said, “‘Ride Against Molestation’ is not a mere slogan rather caption it’s an initiative by the entire biking community to raise our voice against this heinous crime which is an unacceptable act by any human standards.”

Not only the rally saw participation from the lady bikers but also men bikers were enthusiastic to participate in it.

Rosalin Patasani, Founder of Parichay Foundation, Latika Pradhan, Chairperson of State social welfare board, Kasturi Mohapatra, Director of OLS, Archana Patra, Director of Sandys Tower and Sonal Soni, Director of Khimji were present at the event among several others.
