Malkangiri: An ambulance driver has restored faith in humanity by not only performing his basic duty but also helping the patient to get blood units.
The incident was reported from Mathili community health centre (CHC) in Malkangiri district. He was identified as A Krishna Rao, a 108 ambulance driver.
Rao turned an angel for a helpless elderly man by admitting him to a hospital on time and arranging required amount of blood units for the patient. He received applauds for his noble deed.
According to reports, Dhabulu Gouda (60) of Luler village under Mathili block was ill for past few days. After his condition worsened, his elderly wife called the 108 ambulance that was driven by Rao and admitted him to Mathili community health centre.
Out of sympathy, Rao also helped the elderly woman admit Gouda to the CHC. After conducting blood test, the doctors claimed that Gouda was suffering from blood deficiency and required blood.
Gouda whose blood group is O+ was left helpless as his elderly wife could not arrange the required amount of blood. Without a second thought, Rao came forward voluntarily and arranged the required amount of blood, leaving behind his own duty.
Later, the doctors infused the blood to Gouda after which his health condition improved drastically.
“It is my duty to help the needy. I was aware that the elderly woman was helpless and could not do it all by herself. So, I extended a helping hand. It is the duty of every single person to help the needy and give back to the society,” Rao said adding that it was inner satisfaction that he gained by helping people.
It may be pertinent to mention here that Rao had earlier shown his Good Samaritan gesture by donating his blood to an elderly woman and gave her a new lease of life. Rao has received huge applauds from various spheres for this contribution towards humanitarian ethics.
