Ananya Sritam Nanda, who won the hearts of millions with her dulcet voice, won the title of Indian Idol Junior-2, 2015, Sunday. All of 13, the Bhubaneswar girl has made the state proud by her dedication and passion for music. She will return home from Mumbai with her mother Prasanti Mishra, a housewife, and father Prasanna Kumar Nanda, posted as director in the industries department, after September 14. A jubilant Ananya spoke to Dipchand Bihari over phone and shared her experiences.

Did you ever think you would win Indian Idol?
– I want to thank all viewers from Orissa and other parts of the country for their love and support. In fact, I never expected to be the winner of this singing reality show. I participated in it because I love singing very much. It was the blessings of my family and support of those who appreciate good singing that I won the title.

Do you have any commercial singing offers from Mumbai or Orissa?
– Not so far, but as per the contract of the programme, the winner will get a chance to sing for a movie. But my family is encouraging me to accept such offers when they come. The lyrics should be good. It is said the finalists will work with music director Vishal Dadlani sir.

What were your most memorable moments in the contest?
– There are many, and they were the most amazing and happiest moments of my life. The moments I spent here with my co-contestants, eminent singers and music directors during rehearsal were among the best. Sonakshi madam (actress Sonakshi Sinha) kept saying to me “You are my Rockstar”, and that was very encouraging. Each comment from the judges pushed me up to fly.

Who is your favorite singer?
– My favourite singers are Shreya Ghoshal and Arijit Singh. I love their voice.

What will be your focus now?
-Whatever I learnt from this programme is very precious for me. I will continue my practice of singing. Of course, I will focus on my studies, but I will further my interest in music sincerely as it is an integral part of my life.
