Andhra people remove signboards in Pottangi

Pottangi: Even as border dispute with Andhra in Koraput district is yet to be resolved, the neigbouring state at times stokes the row by making encroachment bids on Odisha side.

Reports said, people of Sunabeda in Sambai panchayat under Pottangi block often get into confrontations with the people of Bitrugunda, Kalaput, Dekapar, Badlambaguda and Nitamba in Vishakhapatnam district over borders.

The district administration had put up signboards on the outskirts of Sambai panchayat on the Andhra-Odisha borders.

Next day, the people of the above-said villages removed the signboards.

People of Sunabeda village told the media about the incident. It was learnt that the signboards were removed immediately after MLA Cheti Falguna visited the five villages. Over years, people of Sunabeda have been at loggerheads with people of the five villagers over the farmland and nearby hills.

It was alleged that the district administration of Koraput and Vishakhapatnam have not taken any steps to resolve the border dispute.

Jagatjyoti Pangi, chairperson of the Pottangi block said people of Sunabeda have to live amid fears of routine confrontation with the people of the nighbouring state.
