Koraput: Despite Supreme Court’s order to maintain status quo in connection with Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border dispute in Koraput district’s Kotia panchayat, Andhra Pradesh officials have set up a signboard at Dhuluipadar village, a source said Thursday.

According to the source, the signboard was erected Saturday and has been written in Telugu language.

The content of the signboard carrying a message by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy states, “Land, water and forest in addition to the MGNREGA scheme of the Centre is all yours. The safety and security of these resources are in your hands.”

Notably, Kotia panchayat has been a matter of contention between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. Repeated attempts have been made by Andhra Pradesh in the past to encroach Kotia territory. Similarly, Odisha government has also accelerated infrastructure development in the region.

Besides, Odisha has filed a case in Supreme Court as Andhra Pradesh is continuously staking its claim to Kotia. The government has been submitting various documents to Supreme Court in order to substantiate its claim on the panchayat.

The Apex Court has passed an order directing that the status quo be maintained between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh as the matter is subjudice.
