Addressing the media, unit head of the hospital Alok Lodh said, “The centre is a one-of-its-kind medical unit focusing on providing superior quality treatment including medical and surgical treatments, hormonal therapy, psychological therapy and mechanical aids for male sexual problems.”
He added that the andrology department will focus on eradicating the stigma attached to open discussion about sexual issues of males and provide men with quality healthcare which will help them resume their lives with a “renewed gusto.”
Director of Health Services, Health and Family Welfare, Hara Prasad Pattnaik, who was present at the launching ceremony, said, “The department will provide treatment on entire male sexual dysfunction and male infertility issues under one roof. This is a good endeavour.”
According to urologist Biswajit Nanda, health conditions like diabetes, obesity, excessive stress, neurological problems and kidney problems can impact sexual health. “Men often shy to discuss and take consultation about the problems with doctors. We need to create awareness among men or it may lead them to self-doubt, anxiety and depression,” he said.
