Hatadihi: Tension ran high at Hatadihi block as members of Hatadihi Anganwadi Association staged Thursday a road blockade on Bhadrak-Anandapur State Highway 53 with the body of their fellow deceased worker at Hatadihi block gate, demanding compensation for the bereaved family.
Kushatikiri Anganwadi worker Kiran Naik sustained severe injuries after falling off his bike Tuesday. He was first admitted at Bhadrak district headquarters hospital and shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment there.
Members of Hatadihi Anganwadi Associtation alleged that a male health worker forced Kiran to work Tuesday during the nation-wide bandh called by the Left parties. The association demanded that a member of the family should get a job and Rs 10 lakh should be given as compensation.
Till the time of filing the report, the blockade was continuing. Though Anandpur Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and teams of Nandipada and Soso police stations were present at the site, the agitators did not allow employees and even the block development officer (BDO) into the block office.
