Angul DHH to undergo facelift, to be developed as multispecialty healthcare facility

Angul: The district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Angul will be developed into a multispecialty healthcare facility and tendering process for the facelift was recently completed, an official said Sunday.

The new building will consist of an outdoor-patient department (OPD), a trauma-care centre (TCC) and a burn unit. The developed DHH will have OPDs for people suffering from kidney and heart ailments as well. The construction work will start soon, Angul administration tweeted.

On its official Twitter handle, the district administration has also posted an architectural graphic image depicting how the new DHH building would look. Infrastructure development was being demanded by local denizens since long, the official added.

Earlier, patients coming to the DHH in critical condition and people injured in accidents were being referred to either Indira Gandhi Hospital (IGH) in Rourkela or to SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack for further treatment.

On being contacted, Angul district chief medical officer (CDMO) Dr Trilochan Pradhan said, “The state government has already approved 25 doctor posts for Angul district. The new recruits will be posted at different hospitals across the district including the DHH.”
