Bhubaneswar, August 12: Orissa kick-boxers bagged four medals including two silver and two bronze medals in the recently-concluded Asian Kick-boxing Championship at Pune. Kirti Rani Sahu of Angul secured two silver medals in the Light Contact (65 kg) and Magical Hand categories. Rakesh Kumar Sahu and Jagannath Barik of the same district also bagged a bronze medal each in the Light Contact (74 kg) and Kick Light Contact (63kg) segments respectively.
Angul Collector Sachin Ramachandra Jadhav felicitated all the three players and their coach Krushna Chandra Dakua at his office in Angul, Wednesday.
All the three players have been selected for the World Kick-boxing Championships in Ireland November 21-29.
Officials elected
Tusharkant Singh has been elected as the secretary and Sughosh Das as the president of ‘Krida Bharati’, Cuttack at its annual election at Cuttack, Wednesday. The sports organisation will conduct an Inter-School hockey tournament August 29.
Curator’s presentation
BCCCI level-1 umpire and curator Bibhu Satpathy has submitted a presentation about ‘how to prepare a turf wicket in low cost’ during the BCCI curators’ seminar at NCA in Bangalore. “I have mentioned ways how to prepare turf wickets at club, school, college, educational institute, district and village grounds at a very low cost, which will be affordable to all,” Satpathy stated. “To be a good cricketer one has to practice on turf wickets from the grassroots level and from a very tender age also,” he added.
