Angul Municipality collects Rs 10,000 fine for using banned polythene bags

 Angul: Angul Municipality conducted raids at different places and collected a fine of Rs 10, 000 from people who used banned polythene carry bags.

A team led by executive officer Subhendu Jena conducted raids at the bus stand area Friday morning. Banned polythene bags were seized from various eateries.

In the evening, Chittaranjan Pradhan, a Municipality official, led a team that conducted raids at different restaurants, roadside eateries, fruit shops and pushcart vendors.

Jena said that a total of 25 kg of banned polythene bags was seized and fines were collected from the violators.

Besides, the first time violators were warned against using the banned polythene carry bags.

Similarly, the restaurant and roadside eateries were asked not to throw paper or leaf plates here and there. “If the owners of these eateries are found violating the orders again, fines will be collected from them. The Municipality will keep a regular watch on these shops,” informed Jena.
