Angul-Sukinda rail route goods train trial run conducted successfully

Kamakhyanagar: Days after rolling an engine on the Angul-Sukinda rail route, the Indian Railways conducted a trial run of goods train on the same route, Monday. The goods train started from Baghuapala (Tomka) in Jajpur district and ran for a stretch of 67km till Budhapanka in Angul district. The train with two engines and carrying 700 tonne of goods in 58 wagons completed the run without a hitch.

Sources said that the trial run is an indication that work on the much-awaited Angul-Sukinda route which is around 95km has reached its last leg. People are hoping that very soon the route will be operational for passengers.

When contacted, chief project manager Pradip Kumar Mohanty of Rail Vikash Nigam Ltd (RVNL) said that after the trial run of the engine was successful the decision to run the goods train was taken. He said they will file a report to the government as well as to the Indian Railways regarding the success of the trial runs.
