Aniders installed to scare away jumbos in Sundargarh

Sundargarh: In order to mitigate the man-animal conflict, forest officials have installed aniders (Animal Intrusion Detection and Repellant System), mainly in Kinjirikela forest section under Ujalpur forest range of Sundargarh forest division, Thursday.

The aniders have been installed at selected locations along elephant-passing routes based on movement of the animals near villages.

The aniders are meant to scare away elephants, prevent their straying inside villages and ward off any death or injury to humans or house damage by the animals.

The aniders have sensors that detect movement of elephants or other wild animals within 30m to100m. The system blows siren and flashes lights to scare away animals.

As a result, the elephants change their path without getting physical injury. MLA, Talsara, Bhabani Shankar Bhoi visited the site and inquired about the equipment.

He witnessed the installation of aniders in presence of DFO, Sundargarh, ACF Sundargarh, RO Ujalpur, and other forest officials.

He appreciated the efforts of the forest department in controlling this menace and urged villagers to extend help to forest personnel.
