Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Saturday said that 87 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the city in past 24 hours.
While 41 of them are quarantine cases, remaining 46 are local contact ones. Meanwhile, 37 persons who earlier tested positive for the deadly disease recovered, BMC said.
“Further contact tracing is still continuing. Primary contacts & nearby houses are being quarantined, sanitised and will be under active surveillance,” BMC said. It further added that all positive cases have been shifted to dedicated COVID hospitals.

According to a notification issued by the civic body, as of Saturday morning, 1,130 persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Bhubaneswar out of which 494 have recovered. While there are 624 active cases, 11 persons succumbed to the disease.
Meanwhile, Odisha’s COVID-19 tally rose to 16,701 with 591 fresh cases, while the death toll reached 86 with three more patients succumbing to the disease. Of the fresh cases, 394 were detected in different quarantine centres and 197 during contact-tracing exercises, a Health Department official said.
