Balasore: Even as diarrhoea has spread in some areas of Balasore district, one person died in Kanthasimulia area under Nilagiri block Thursday.
Till date, over 50 people were affected by the disease in the area. Two persons had died of the disease earlier while Devi Hembram, a tribal woman, died Thursday night.
Locals alleged that the healthcare authorities had finished their work by just sprinkling bleaching powder in affected villages.
A few days ago, three fishermen died of the water-borne disease in Basta area while over 25 people were affected.
It was found that fishermen engaged in Bahabalpur were affected by diarrhoea.
The deceased were identified as Chaitanya Singh (26), Deben Hembram (30) of Baripada and Chandrakant Majhi(45) of Balasore.
It may be noted here that by August 9, two people had died of diarrhea in Sajanagad area. It broke out August 3 after some people ate at a village feast. 15 people were hit by the disease.
