New Delhi: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Angul has been awarded with Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Rashtriya Krishi Vigyan Protshahan Puraskar-2018 for Zone V of Kolkata under ICAR in Delhi Wednesday.
The zone comprises 59 KVKs from Odisha, West Bengal and Union territory Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The award was received by Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) Vice Chancellor PK Agrawal and senior scientist and head of Angul KVK Bineeta Satapathy from Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar on the occasion of 91st ICAR Foundation Day at the NASC complex here.
An innovators’ meet was arranged on this occasion where 10 farm innovators from Odisha participated and displayed their farm innovations.
KVK, Angul has also been awarded as the best KVK on the eve of 57th Foundation Day of OUAT during 2018.
The KVK has been working for the welfare of farming community of the district since its inception. The KVK has special contributions towards diversifying the cropping system, increasing oilseed & pulse productivity and rice fallow development. Besides, the KVK played an important role in varietal substitution, adoption of several agricultural technologies; assessment of different stress tolerant rice germplasm.
