Anti-Maoist posters found in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: Anti-Maoist posters condemning their resort to violence surfaced in various parts of Mahupadar village near Mathili in this district Wednesday. The posters, signed by Hinsa Mukta Abhijan, urged the Maoists to shun violence, surrender arms to police, and join the social mainstream.

Saying that the Maoists were working against development of the area, the posters condemned the killing of innocent people by the reds, falsely accusing them of being police informers. Notably, a group of 10-20 armed Maoists killed Jagdish Somrath May 15 by slitting his throat at Temurapalli village near Mathili on suspicion they were police informers.

Posters opposing Maoist activities were found also in various parts of Kalyansinghpur in Rayagada district May 20. The posters, issued by the Adivasi Ekta Samiti, were found pasted on the walls of the Kalyansinghpur High School and the local Jagannath temple.

Through the posters, the organisation condemned the violent activities of Maoists and urged them to stop terrorising the people, and put an end to violence and killing of dalits, women and youths in the tribal areas including Niyamgiri.
