Bhubaneswar: Noted Odia movie star and Kendrapara BJD MP Anubhav Mohanty and his actress wife Varsha Priyadarshini Tuesday appeared before the State Commission for Women (SCW) in connection with the marital discord they find themselves in.
Earlier, Varsha had approached the commission over the matrimonial dispute December 15.
The commission had also issued notice to Anubhav and his parents to depose before the commission on the issue. However, Anubhav Tuesday reached SCW alone as his parents failed to appear reportedly due to health reasons.
The couple presented their sides in connection with the family dispute before chairperson Minati Behera. The closed-door counseling of the couple continued for more than two hours. Both Anubhav and Varsha reportedly engaged in heated arguments many times during the counseling.
Anubhav, who first came out of the office of the chairperson, told the waiting media outside that the SCW has been created to redress the problems of womenfolk. He came here out of his respect for the commission. He refused to make public the facts he presented before the commission.
Meanwhile, Varsha left the SCW without interacting with the reporters.
Speaking on the issue, chairperson Behera expressed satisfaction over the result of the first round of talks between the couple over the matrimonial dispute. She voiced hope over some positive outcome of the discussions.
