Anurag Kashyap questioned for nearly 8 hours in alleged sexual misconduct case

Mumbai: Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap was questioned for a marathon 8 hours due to the sexual misconduct allegations made by actress Payal Ghosh against the director-producer.

Ghosh claimed that  Kashyap had forced her into a compromising situation. However, he described these allegations as baseless and absurd. The actress then approached the Mumbai Police and lodged an FIR against him following which he was called for questioning at Versova Police Station Thursday.

In the morning of Thursday, Anurag Kashyap appeared before the police for questioning in relation to the sexual harassment case. He was questioned for nearly 8 hours on the charges. He was then seen exiting the police station and getting inside a car. Meanwhile, after Anurag’s summon, the victim thanked the Mumbai police and tweeted, Thank you @MumbaiPolice … @anuragkashyap72has been called tomorrow at versova police station for summoning and questioning. Let’s hope justice prevails….!!”

 

On the basis of the complaint, the police have registered a case against Kashyap under sections Sections 376 (I) (rape), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty,), 341 (wrongful restraint) and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code.

Meanwhile Anurag Kashyap, through his lawyer Priyanka Khimani, issued a statement saying that the allegations are completely false and malicious.

After Payal had levelled allegations against Anurag, the filmmaker took to social media to deny all of it. He called the allegations ‘baseless and malicious’ in a statement that was released on his social media via his lawyer. Several actresses like Kalki Koechlin, Radhika Apte, Mahie Gill and a few others backed Anurag and released a statement regarding the same after Payal’s allegations.
