Apollo Hospitals kicks off unique healthy heart awareness campaign

Bhubaneswar: Apollo Hospitals, Bhubaneswar has adopted a novel method of promoting heart health and creating awareness among the general masses to fight against cardiovascular disease (CVD).

The premier healthcare institution in Odisha today flagged off a vehicle decorated in this year’s theme and carrying the message ‘Be A Heart Hero’ from its premises in the capital city, Wednesday. Shri Sudhir M. Diggikar, Central Region CEO of Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Limited flagged off the campaign vehicle.

Dr. Asish Chandra, Director Medical Services of Apollo Hospitals, Bhubaneswar, Dr. PK Sahoo, Director, Department of Interventional Cardiology, Consultants of various departments, senior management team of Apollo Hospitals, Bhubaneswar and staff were also present during the event.

The vehicle is expected to cover 20 districts in Odisha namely Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh, Subarnapur, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam and Puri and highlight the importance of cardiovascular health besides educating and inspiring the masses to lead a healthy life.

The 20-district campaign will see the vehicle cover a distance of approximately 3000 kms in 13 days before returning to Apollo Hospitals 30 September, 2019.

A team travelling with the vehicle will conduct programs of public interest with the primary aim of making people aware of the threat that heart related diseases pose to the society today.

With World Heart Day observed 29th September every year, Apollo Hospitals, Bhubaneswar aims to motivate the common man to become a ‘Heart Hero’.

The World Heart Federation, on World Heart Day, unites people from all walks of life in the fight against cardiovascular disease (CVD) burden while driving international traction to encourage heart-healthy living across the globe.

Apollo Hospitals Group started as a single hospital in 1983 and today represents 11 NABH accredited hospitals, 25 World Class Heart Institutes having performed over 1,50,000 Heart Surgeries with a remarkable success rate, touching over 42 million lives.

“As the pioneers of healthcare in Asia and to continue our pledge on spreading awareness on Heart Health, a vehicle branded on the theme of this year shall be covering all major districts of our state, covering an arduous journey of about 3000kms over 13 days before returning back to Bhubaneswar,” said Shri Diggikar.

“We would organize numerous mass connect programs en-route, aimed at heart-health education for the citizens. The objective is also to invoke the most important question: ‘What can I do right now to look after my heart and your heart?’” Shri Diggikar added.
