APR constable donates blood, saves woman’s life

Mathili: An APR constable turned out to be a saviour by donating his blood to save the life of an ailing elderly widow here in Malkangiri district.

The act of the constable, K. Sibaram has been widely appreciated.

According to sources, the victim, Kunda Mali (55) hails from Uparmaliguda village of Udulubeda panchayat under this block. After the death of her husband and son, she is survived by her only daughter-in-law Alyaa Mali.

Affected of some illness, Kunda’s condition worsened after which Alyaa got her admitted to Mathili Community Health Centre (CHC). Meanwhile, the doctor treating her said she was suffering from Anemia and prescribed a blood for her to be administrated immediately, otherwise, it may prove fatal.

Left with no option, Alyaa contacted the blood bank officials of the hospital to meet the requirement but failed as Kunda was in need of an A-positive blood. Despite her frantic search for A-positive blood, Alyaa could not arrange it.

Panicked, Alyaa could be seen pleading with the hospital staffs to arrange the blood for her mother-in-law. She feared she might also lose the sole member of the family.

Seeing, the heartrending condition of the woman, Sibaram swung into action to save the life of the patient. He came forward and offered to donate blood as he was also A-positive.

While, Kunda is now recuperating, the whole CHC plunged into jubilation as the news spread. Alyaa’s words fell short to express her gratitude to K Sibram, a man-in-khaki.  The incident made Sibaram, a hero of sort. The APR constable earned a good name for himself among the patients and their relatives for his good gesture.

“I have already lost my father-in-law and husband. I was afraid that I might also lose my mother-in-law. But, the man came as an angel in our lives,” Alyaa said as tears rolled down her eyes.
