Artistes from six states to participate in National Tribal Dance Festival

Bhubaneswar, Dec 9: Artistes from six states of the country are scheduled to perform in the three-day long National Tribal Dance Festival beginning here Wednesday.

Organised jointly by the SC/ST department and Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manab Sangrahalaya (Bhopal), the festival will conclude December 12.

Official sources here said artistes from Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand and Orissa will perform.

SC/ST minister Lalbihari Himirika will inaugurate the dance festival December 10 in which eleven tribal communities will present their traditional dance forms.

The Kutia Kandha and Santals of the state will present Dhangidi and Rinjha respectively.

Rathua of Gujarat will present Hori, Bhutia of Uttarakhand will perform Bagdawal and Bharavi, and Kharia of Jharkhand will present Phalgunhalka in the festival, sources said. UNI
