BHUBANESWAR: A mega event is always backed by various promotional activities of the organisers. The Capital city is gearing up to host the upcoming men’s Hockey World Cup in a grand way. The event has received a shot in the arm through the efforts of various artists from the city.
A group exhibition was organised by Jaleswar Art Foundation (JAF) at Odisha Modern Art Gallery (OMAG) Sunday. The event will continue till November 29. 36 artworks were presented by 31 artists from Odisha and neighboring states. Artworks of Spanish and Vietnamese artists added gloss to the event.
JAF secretary Muktipada Nandi stated that the exhibition was organised ahead of the Hockey WC to attract people towards the artistic creativity of the state. Founder of Odisha Modern Art Gallery Tarakanta Parida said, “The state government in collaboration with sports authorities is using the artistic medium to promote the upcoming event at several places of the city. This exhibition was a similar attempt to promote artistic talent and the mega sporting event.”
Twenty artists of OMAG are working since October 27 at walls near Gopabandhu square. The trail stretches till Jaleswar Siva temple in the northern outskirts of the city. The aforementioned artists are creating the faces of 65 famous women personalities of the state like social activist Ramadevi Choudhry, sportspersons Anuradha Biswal, Dutte Chand, Srabani Nanda, Lilima Minz and former chief minister of Odisha Nandini Satpathy among others.
This apart, artists showcased their creativity and aptitude in painting at the expo through various themes and ideas. Pabitra Mohan Satpathy, an artist from Talcher, elucidated the impact of industrialization on the planet through his painting.
Sasadhar Pati of Jajpur presented two of his works. In one of his works he presented the deep turmoil in a person’s conscience due to occurrences in his daily life. He showcased the beauty of nature in another work. Another artist Kuber Barik showed the impact of urbanization on nature and animals through his work.
Nandi stated that the exhibition is scheduled to continue till November 29.
