New Delhi: In what comes as good news for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan fans, the diva will reunite with her father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan in filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s next film which is a period drama, reports said. This will be the first time, they will be again donning screen space since Bunty and Babli which hit the screen 11 years ago.
According to reports, the film will be based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s popular historical novel Ponniyin Selvan (The Son of Ponni). It will be made in parts which narrates the story of Arulmozhivarman, who was crowned as Rajaraja Chola I during the 10th and 11th century.
Reports also stated that Mani Ratnam has narrated the story to Big B. It’s likely to be a bilingual project and star several other big names from the South Indian film industry. If Big B gives a nod, it will be interesting to watch Aishwarya and Amitabh on-screen together again.
On the work front, Aishwarya was last seen in Fanney Khan, co-starring Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, while Amitabh Bachchan was last seen in Thugs Of Hindostan, alongside Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
