Nayagarh: A shocking video of a woman, stated to be the wife of a jawan of the Indian army, being thrashed by her neighbour over a petty dispute is doing the rounds in the social media, here.
According to the case diary, the incident occurred 12 days back, but it came to fore after the video of the assault went viral on social media platforms. The victim has been identified as Namita Das, wife of Pradip Das, a jawan and a resident of Pimpala village under Ranpur police limits in this district. Acting on a complaint by the victim, police has registered a case and launched a probe but are yet nab the culprits.
According to the FIR, the jawan and his wife had constructed a new house. They had engaged few labourers to paint it. However, this did not go down well with their neighbour Kailash Tripathy who objected to the painting over some reason.
Kailash threatened the workers and forced them to leave. When Pradip confronted Kailash, a bitter argument broke out which soon turned into an ugly fight. In a fit of rage, Kailash along with his aides, stormed into Pradip’s house and started insulting the couple. They vowed that they would teach Pradip and his wife a lesson. When the two refused, Kailash brutally hit Namita on her head.
The video shows the two parties engaged in a war of words followed by Kailash physically assaulting Pradip and his wife. Namita also alleged in the complaint that her chain was snatched from her neck during the brawl.
Nayagarh Superintendant of Police has promised action within the next few days when he was asked about the latest developments on the case.
