Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar DCP Pratik Singh Tuesday said the attack on Police during the Assembly gherao programme of BJP Yuva Morcha was pre-planned.
Singh said around eight to ten Police personnel including an officer of the ACP rank sustained injuries in the attack by the BJP Yuva Morcha activists and were admitted to hospital.
Singh said ACP A Mohapatra and some other police personnel have sustained head injuries and the C T Scan of the injured police personnel was conducted.
The DCP said some activists have also brought kerosene and planned to set the police vehicles on fire. Four to five police vehicles were also damaged.
The Police, he said have detained around 200 people and are inquiring into it adding cases will be registered against those found indulging in violent activities.
Meanwhile, DGP S K Bansal and Police Commissioner Soumendra Priyadarshi visited the injured police personnel in the hospital.
The DGP said action will be taken against the people involved in violent activities.
BJP State President Samir Mohanty said such a situation arose as the Police could not handle the situation as it should have been.
Leader of Opposition Jayanarayan Mishra raised the issue in the Assembly and demanded a ruling from the Speaker for an impartial inquiry into the Police excesses on the BJP Yuva Morcha activists during the agitation.
