Kendrapara: The Odisha Soochana Adhikar Abhijan (OSAA) has demanded a DSP-level inquiry on the attack on RTI activist and journalist by miscreants, Friday.

RTI activist Alaya Kumar Samantaray was brutally attacked by two motorbike-borne miscreants Friday evening on Paradip-Daitary expressway while he was returning to his house. The miscreants attacked his head with a wooden log injuring him critically and later fled from the spot.

The locals came to the rescue of the journalist and rushed him to district headquarters hospital for treatment. He was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack for treatment.

The injured reporter-cum-RTI activist had lodged a complaint online after the police refused to receive his FIR.

Meanwhile, the Odisha Soochana Adhikar Abhijan (OSAA) demanded a DSP-level inquiry on the attack and threatened that if police failed to arrest the accused involved in the crime within a week, the OSAA would stage a state-wide demonstration.

Several Journalists’ Associations also condemned the attack on a working journalist and demanded stern action against the accused.
