Bhubaneswar: The ‘Avengers: Endgame’ movie garnered huge response in the city Friday morning. Diehard fans of the movie lined up in front of all the multiplexes in the city from as early as 5.30am to watch the film. It was as if everyone wanted to brag about ‘the first day first show’ credit.
For the first time in the history of the city multiplexes at the Esplanade, Bhawani, DN Regalia and Symphony Malls started showing the movie from 6.00am onwards. The city has hosted plenty of blockbusters, but never before has any hall has screened a movie at 6.00am. Since the date of the release of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ was announced tickets were sold off in a jiffy. Sources said that tickets of all the multiplexes and halls screening the movie have been sold out and there is not a single booking (both online and at the counters) available within the next 24 hours.
However, there was some mismanagement noticed at the Cinepolis multiplex at Esplanade Mall. It was clear that the staff was not accustomed to handling such enthusiastic movie goers in huge numbers. The mall gates did not open till 5.45 prompting a melee with the movie buffs desperate to get in as quickly as possible so that they do not miss a single second. Once the gates opened there was mad rush to get in, park the bike and cars and reach the seats as quickly as possible. But all the trouble was forgotten once the enthusiasts settled in their seats for the first screening of the movie in the city.
There were disappointments too. Many had bought tickets for the 8.30am show with the idea of watching the first screening. Little did they know then that the movie will be screened at 6.00am and they won’t be able to boast about the ‘first day first show’ tag. Some multiplexes of the city are having three shows of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ between 6.00am and 7.00am.
It should be mentioned here that a multiplex in Bangalore which has decided to run the movie 24×7 on all its screens.
