Bhubaneswar: Coimmissionerate Police here arrested an AYUSH doctor on charges of killing his father. He was produced in a court Saturday.
The incident took place at Jagamohan Nagar in Jagamara area under Khandagiri police limits July 16. The deceased has been identified as Rajkishore Mishra (73) and the accused as Ranjan Mishra.
According to Khandagiri police station IIC Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra, the family comprised of Rajkishore, his son, daughter-in-law, two grandsons and one unmarried daughter. They lived at Jagamohan Nagar. Ranjan worked as an AYUSH doctor at Banapur CHC.
For last couple of months, Ranjan had been accusing his father of having illicit relationship with his wife. Due to the frequent quarrels between father and son, Ranjan’s wife along with their two sons had left the house a month ago and has since been staying at her parents’ house.
According to a source, like any other day, Ranjan picked up a quarrel with his father asking the same question July 16. He wanted to know from his father that who between them was the biological father of the two children.
As the argument turned out to be a heated one, Ranjan lost his cool and started raining punches and kicks. As Rajkishore fell on the ground unconscious, Ranjan’s sister intervened and rushed her father to Capital Hospital in a 108 ambulance where the doctors declared him received dead. Thereafter she lodged an FIR against her brother accusing him of killing her father.
